Quiet. There: I said the Q-word, and nothing happened. Literally.

Inexplicably, my last night as a registrar was the absolute quietest of my ED career.

One patient waiting to be seen on arrival, 5 presented between midnight and 8am, 2 of which were for police bloods only.

So, the makeshift cricket bat cobbled together from a crutch and a piece of stretcher got a workout, followed by 3 hours of poker. Clearly the poker photo is staged – our chips were old trivial pursuit cards, and I definitely didn’t score this hand, but the empty waiting room shot is real!
